ABOUT SIMKIN LAB

I completed my Ph.D. at Tulane University in the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology and completed a postdoc at the University of Kentucky.  I currently work on ways to enhance the regenerative potential of mammalian tissues by exploiting developmental pathways.

My current and past work has given me experience in a wide variety of fields, but I have a passionate interest in immunology and light microscopy.

It is my ultimate goal to better understand how the immune system is controlled during the regeneration of tissues and to connect these mechanisms to therapies for pathological conditions like autoimmunity.  I also aspire to create visual interpretations of my work using microscopy and imaging techniques to better communicate science to a public audience.
